Wix vs ChairsideWeb
Wix vs ChairsideWeb: do it yourself on a builder, or have it done and kept current
Which is right for a dental group?
Wix is a hosted website builder with templates, AI-assisted site creation, domains and hosting in one place, which makes it a quick way for a single dental office to publish a site on its own. ChairsideWeb is not a builder: it is a service that designs, writes, hosts and runs the site for a group. If you have one office, a small budget and someone who enjoys building pages, Wix is a reasonable start. If you have several offices and nobody with time to keep each one accurate, a managed site will serve you better.
The real question
A builder saves money on the build and spends it on your time
Builders make the first version easy. The cost shows up later, in the hours someone at the practice spends adding the second office, updating the hygienist list, rewriting service pages and wondering why the new location does not show up in search. For one office that may be fine. For a group, the hours multiply by the number of offices, which is why we price the service per group, not per page or per office.
Side by side
Wix and ChairsideWeb, line by line
Twelve things a dental group should weigh. Their column describes the option in general terms from public information; ours states our published terms.
| What to weigh | Wix | ChairsideWeb |
|---|---|---|
| Speed and Core Web Vitals | Hosted by Wix. Speed depends on template, apps and media added. | 90+ PageSpeed guaranteed on mobile and desktop. Static pages served from Cloudflare's edge with almost no JavaScript. |
| SEO control, office by office | Built-in SEO settings and guidance. Office-by-office structure is up to you. | A page per office, provider and service, each with its own title, headings and internal links, set by us. |
| Schema and JSON-LD | Custom structured data per office takes extra setup; check Wix documentation for what is automatic. | Organization, a dental business entry per office, Service, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList, generated from the same data as the page. |
| AEO and GEO readiness | Possible if content is written answer-first by you. | Answer-first copy, visible FAQs, consistent office facts and an llms.txt file on every site. |
| Hosting and security | Hosting and domains are part of the Wix platform. | Cloudflare hosting with SSL, CDN, DDoS protection, backups and monitoring inside the fee. |
| Maintenance burden on your team | You make every edit in the editor. | None. Weekly detail updates and 5 revisions a month are applied by us. Nobody logs in. |
| Who does the work | You or your staff, or a Wix designer you hire. | Our team designs, writes, builds, hosts and runs it. You approve. |
| Content and blog | Blog tools included; you write the posts. | 2 researched articles a week (3 on Group), 2,500 to 3,200 words each, with cited sources. |
| Design quality | A large library of templates and AI-assisted design. | A custom design system on your brand, designed phone-first and hand-coded. |
| Accessibility and compliance pages | Policy templates and tools exist; you configure them. | Privacy policy, terms, cookie consent that gates scripts, an accessibility statement and forms that do not collect health information. |
| Cost model | Subscription plans from Wix; see Wix for current pricing. | One fee per group from $137 a month, plus a $797 build fee invoiced after launch. AI usage at cost on Operatory Suite. |
| Lock-in and ownership | Content lives on the Wix platform. | Month to month. Your domain and your content are yours, with a content export within 14 days of cancelling. The design and code stay ours. |

Switching or combining
Moving from a builder site
We rebuild the site from your content, map every existing page to its new address, and redirect the old addresses so bookmarks and search results keep working.
Your domain is pointed at the new site or transferred into your name. Nothing changes for patients except that the site is faster and each office has a page of its own.

From a group that switched
What a group like yours says
We expected a prettier website; what we actually use every day is the new form. It collects preferred office, visit reason and callback number up front, so the back-and-forth we used to do by reply has largely gone. Most mornings I can prepare for the callback from the first message alone.

Questions
Wix vs ChairsideWeb: questions
Is Wix good enough for a dental practice?
For a single office with someone to maintain it, it can be. For a group that needs a page per office, provider and service kept accurate every week, most owners prefer to hand the work to a managed service.
Is Wix cheaper than ChairsideWeb?
A builder subscription usually costs less than a managed service, because you do the work. ChairsideWeb includes design, writing, updates, articles and hosting in one fee per group.
Can a Wix site rank for several office towns?
It can if it is built with a page per office and maintained carefully. That structure is what we build by default.
Can you move our existing Wix content?
Yes. We carry across your text, photos and posts, and redirect old addresses where the domain allows.
Do we keep our domain if it was bought through Wix?
Yes. You can transfer it to your own registrar or point it at the new site. Either way it stays registered in your name.
Will we still be able to make quick edits?
You will not need to. Email the change or raise it in the client portal; weekly detail updates do not use a revision.
What if we outgrow ChairsideWeb?
Plans run month to month with no lock-in contract. Your domain and content are yours, with a content export within 14 days of cancelling.
Is ChairsideWeb affiliated with Wix?
No. Wix is a trademark of its owner and ChairsideWeb is not affiliated with it.
